Ajit Vakharia, MD

Raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, Dr. Vakharia is an orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon at Resurgens Orthopaedics. He returned home to serve the community near and dear to him, helping athletes of all ages and people with orthopaedic conditions get back to doing what they love.

From Atlanta to Specialized Sports Medicine Training

Dr. Vakharia graduated from Georgia Tech with high honors and attended Morehouse School of Medicine on a merit scholarship. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was selected as the Allen Fellow and served as Chief Resident.

He went on to specialized sports medicine fellowship training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, the oldest sports medicine fellowship in the country. As an assistant team physician for the New York Jets, he participated in home-game and sideline coverage, along with weekly training rooms. He also assisted with medical coverage and athlete evaluation at the NFL Scouting Combine.

His training included experience with the Cleveland Browns and an international traveling fellowship in France, expanding his experience in shoulder and knee surgery.

Comprehensive Orthopaedic Care

Dr. Vakharia cares for sports injuries and conditions of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip and ankle. His clinical interests include arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage restoration and joint preservation, along with comprehensive shoulder and knee care.

Beyond the Clinic

When he is not in the clinic or operating room, you can find Dr. Vakharia at nearby coffee shops and parks with his wife, two children and dog. He also enjoys tennis, golf, travel and following Atlanta sports.
